An Industrial and Provident Society (IPS). Commenced operating on 1st May 2004 taking on the management of facilities provided by Stockton on Tees Borough Council. Now managing for SBC Billingham Forum, Splash, Thornaby Swimming Pool and Thornaby Pavilion plus 2 school sites, Sporting Central and Abbey Pool. Leases with British Waterways to manage Castlegate Quay Watersports Centre and Tees Barrage International White Water Course. Contract with North Tees PCT to provide outreach Healthy Activity Services. Awarded contract by Northumberland CC to manage Swan Leisure Centre Berwick from November 2009. |

Our second three year business plan was launched in 2008. In it Tees Active wass committed to:£7.5 mill contribution towards £18mill refurbishment of Billingham Forum to be completed by Jan 2011.£2.5 mill extension to Splash swimming centre to create wet and dry facility complete by Nov 2009. £1 mill investment of refurbishment of Thornaby Pavilion Leisure Centre. Will begin management of the Swan Leisure Centre in Berwick in October 2009 under a ten year management contract with Northumberland County Council including £800k investment. Awarded twenty year operating lease by British Waterways to manage the Tees Barrage International White Water Course from May 2011 following £5 mill upgrade. Currently managing the site on an interim basis. Working with local authorities and BW to develop a range of river based events. Plans to extend range and scope of Tees Active Sports Academy. Plans to extend contracted work with local PCT to address childhood obesity through physical activity and lifestyle programmes. Negotiating to take on management of a third watersports centre on the river Tees. |
